Q1. Please tell me in detail about Aomori Hiba used in the products.

It is a species of tree indigenous to Japan, about 80% of them being distributed in Aomori prefecture and forming one of the three most beautiful forests in the country. It is an uncultivated tree that contains hinokitiol, much noted as a natural antibacterial substance. Aomoiri Hiba is a suitable material for kitchen utensils and children’s toys that protects from fungal and bacterial contamination and won't easily grow dark or odorous because of its natural antibacterial and hygienic attributes.

Q2. Is Aomori Hiba abundant as a resource?

It grows extremely slowly and takes 200 to 300 years to become an adult tree. It has strong vitality and grows steadily in harsh wind and snow, blooming and starting its activity from February to March in the coldness of mountains covered with deep snow. In Japan, it has been used for many historical buildings, and in the present time has become a valuable wood.

Q3. Where are the products created?

They are handmade one by one in Aomori, the area where the trees grow. They are delivered directly from there to our customers. Aomori, located in the northernmost part of Japan's main island, Honshu, is surrounded by the Japan Sea, the Pacific Ocean, and the Tsugaru Straits on three sides and is a land rich in products from both mountains and seas abundant with nature.

Q4. Please tell me how to care for the products.

Please wipe off dust and dirt with a firmly squeezed wet cloth.
As for kitchen utensils, please avoid using a dishwasher/drier and leaving them in detergent or water. In addition, any stuck-on seasoning and stains should be wiped off immediately.
If the surface of the furniture gets damaged, steaming with an iron through a wet towel will recover the dent in the wood. It is also helpful to sandpaper the surface slightly to improve its condition.

Because it is an international delivery, we cannot accept a returned item unless the product has defects. Please be aware of this before placing your order.
